International Week at Milton Keynes Preparatory School

Pupils aged 3 to 11 years enjoyed a varied and exciting International week of planned activities during the last week of the Summer term.

They celebrated the cultural differences of countries around the world, all within school with many of them wearing traditional dress from their own country.

Reception and Year 1 pupils enjoyed an English cream tea outdoors. A number of parents were invited to run workshops. Some taught a creative skill to Year 2 pupils including Origami from Japan and Rangoli patterns from India. Nigerian culture was experienced by Year 5 & 6 pupils through a Music & Dance Festival DVD which was supported by a talk and cultural artefacts. In Year 4 pupils learned The Story of Chocolate production in Ghana.

The highlight of the week was an International Market which ran on the last afternoon. Countries of the world were represented through food & drink, music & dance and with flags, posters, books and games. The market was supported by parents and throughout the afternoon pupils visited the market to sample the atmosphere and watch performances of African drumming and Indian dancing.
