Speech Day Transcript - Jun 2007

Guest Speaker, Madam Deputy Mayor, Chairman, Ladies, Gentlemen and children,

Welcome to Speech Day!

I would like to extend a particularly warm welcome to Phil Williams. We are very lucky to have him here today. He sets such a clear example of how we must try to nurture and protect our environment; our heritage.

Here in school we are learning about how to do our part in reducing our carbon emissions.

In line with the school’s commitment to sustainable development, we have been in discussion with an architect to incorporate solar panels and a wind turbine at The Farm.

The aim of this venture would be to provide a renewable energy source for The Farm buildings. This would reduce its reliance upon more traditional energy sources and subsequently reduce its carbon footprint.

We have also been celebrating Milton Keynes’s 40th birthday.

The more you live in Milton Keynes, the more you realise what a vibrant, exciting place it is to be a part of. The facilities available to us all and to the children in particular, are wide and varied, and growing, as the city expands. There is very little now, that you cannot access somewhere in Milton Keynes.

This week the first of our year groups has been to the new Eco Park. Excellent!

The opportunities, educational, cultural and aesthetic, both urban and rural, are close by.

As a school we feel very lucky to be a part of such a dynamic city.
